Isn't it all esciting?! Is a picture of new Real Madrid Number Two goalkeeper, Jerzey Dodek, who is coming from Liverpool, where he was Number Two goalkeeper also, in order to keep bench warm for our brilliant Number One, Iker Casillas, best goalkeeper in the world. Is more of a chance at least that Dodek will learn something at Madrid, of course, which is nice; is touching that someone like him, who is 31 years old, is optimistic enough to believe learning something at his time of life is still worthwhile and will make a difference to anything.
What is really thrilling for the fans, however, is that Dodek is not just a goalkeeper but is also Polish: Who else can you think of who is Polish and was a goalkeeper? That's right. Real Pope John Paul #2! Is like a happy confluence of the stars (not that I believe in that superstitious astronomy mumbo-jumbo!). We now have a potential future pope playing for Franco's team, which play in all white, and looking a little bit like Jesus. Is all I think too good to be true!
Even if Dodek is a pretty shit goalkeeper, and it is true, he is, his presence in the squad will no doubt contribute to its morale and spiritual well-being. He is famous amongst Liverpool supporters for his determination, his ethereal capacity to float inches off the ground at corners, and his miraculous ability to perform the most unlikely and unexpected aerial maneuvers in response to the most mundane of shots (I will refrain from making the old joke about him being afraid of crosses, like vampires and Jesus, because he does not exhibit fear so much as incomprehension).
I am wondering also if there is more than just coincidence to Dodek's arrival in Madrid. In two years' time, he will be the same age as Jesus was when he was crucifixed by the Judaeo-Roman conspiracy. If the end of the world is coming soon, as we have been told over and over again by dozens of mystic nuns with migraines, auras, sunglasses, and immense levels of repressed sexual energy, then who would bet against the Second Coming occurring between the posts of the Bernabeu on the last day of the season?
